Tom y su esposa entonces quedan a merced del desierto, con solo un poco de jugo y galletas. Después de varios días ellos están al borde de perder la vida, debido al hambre y la sed; pero el hijo que ellos, que había fallecido un poco antes, en un sueño le dice a su madre en que dirección deben caminar para buscar ayuda. La pareja sigue esas indicaciones y a pesar de estar débiles logran llegar a una cabaña donde un joven les ayuda y llama al teléfono de emergencia. Ellos son rescatados y llevados a un hospital, salvando así sus vidas."
